Basecamp Frederick ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Basecamp Frederick website and application (the "Service"). This data is used solely to match your rides against challenge routes and track your progress.
• Uploaded Activity Files: If you upload FIT, GPX, or other activity files directly, we process the GPS and sensor data contained in those files.
• Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with the Service, including pages visited, features used, and general usage patterns.
• Device Information: Basic device information such as browser type, operating system, and screen resolution to optimize your experience.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
• Match your ride activities against road segments and challenge routes to track your progress
• Display your coverage on the interactive map and leaderboards
• Communicate with you about your account, challenges, and Service updates
• Analyze usage patterns to improve the Service experience

Garmin Connect Integration

When you connect your Garmin Connect account to Basecamp Frederick, we access your activity data through the Garmin Connect API. Specifically:

• Data Accessed: We request access to your activity summaries and detailed activity data, including GPS tracks, timestamps, distance, duration, heart rate, power, and other sensor metrics recorded by your Garmin device.
• Purpose: This data is used exclusively to match your cycling activities against the Frederick County road and trail network, track your challenge progress, and display your ride history within the Service.
• Storage: Your activity data is stored securely in our database. GPS tracks are stored as geographic geometries for spatial matching. Activity metadata (distance, duration, sensor data) is stored alongside each ride record.
• No Resale: We do not sell, rent, or share your Garmin activity data with third parties for commercial purposes.
• Revocation: You can disconnect your Garmin Connect account at any time through your Basecamp Frederick account settings. Upon disconnection, we will cease accessing new data from Garmin. You may also request deletion of previously synced data (see Data Deletion below).

Third-Party Fitness Platform Integrations

In addition to Garmin Connect, the Service may integrate with other fitness platforms including Strava and RideWithGPS. The same data handling principles apply to all connected platforms: we access only the activity data necessary to power the Service's features, we do not sell your data, and you can disconnect at any time.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information only in the following circumstances:

• Public Challenge Data: If you participate in challenges, your username, progress, and ranking may be visible to other participants on leaderboards. You can control your visibility through your privacy settings.
• Service Providers: We may share data with trusted service providers who help us operate the Service (e.g., cloud hosting, email delivery), subject to strict data processing agreements.
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Activity data is stored in encrypted databases with access controls. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your personal information and activity data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at the email address below. Upon receiving a deletion request, we will remove your personal information and activity data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
